We are working hard on improving IAGP for our membership. We have been realizing new plans and goals for this term, which includes projects on the social and humanitarian level: we have just signed training projects with competent authorities in India, Egypt and the West Banks/Palestine. On regard of the last project we have not only included the dialogue with but the active participation of Israeli colleagues as well. This reflects a further extension of our educational and peace oriented activities (including distance learning and supervision) with a focus on trauma and disaster management by our special task force group. We have also continued to facilitate the intercultural exchange between different methods and generations with our regional conferences and the summer academy in Granada (www.granada-academy.org). Finally we have also initiated new cooperation's with the United Nations (genocide prevention and the observation of human rights), with the World Psychiatric Association and the International Association of Family Therapy (IFTA).

Membership benefits include conference discounts, publications and networking opportunities. As a member of our organization, you are invited to become active in designing and contributing to the development of the IAGP and its various projects. As an affiliate organization you are invited as well to publish the relevant information on your professional events in a new designed calendar on professional activities of our field around the world. This calendar is being spread among our membership and our non-membership lists with more than 10000 subscribers and it is published on our homepage.

We hope after all to be in contact with you by our internet facilities which are each time more important for a "group" experience of our global community in between the real encounter. They are now bilingual in English and Spanish. In addition, we have been working hard to involve also speakers of other languages in the IAGP's activities. Thanks to a link to a translation tool imbedded in all our lists users can contribute to discussions in their own language or receive the translation of a message made originally in English or in Spanish. This may facilitate the communication between us even more. We are going to open soon also intranet facilities for our membership fostering special interest groups on research, professional exchange on clinical and social projects and the development of our sections

Our next international congress in Cartagena/Colombia is coming ahead in July 2012. You are cordially invited to join this unique international congress which we celebrate each three years (last time in Rome with more than 1500 participants), this time with a special focus on group work for social transformation. IAGP offer significant discounts to people in countries with lower average income, as well as for students and retired people. As the current term comes to an end in Cartagena in July 2012 we offer a special discount rate for the end of this term (1/3 of the normal fee)! Si quiere renovar su membrecía ahora o si quiere hacerse socio por la primera vez: por favor aprovechar el nuevo plan de membrecía con descuentos importantes (ver mas detalles al final de esta carta)

Hemos hecho muchos esfuerzos para mejorar la IAGP para nuestros socios durante el mandato actual. Estamos realizando por ejemplo en estos momentos nuevos proyectos a nivel social y humanitario incluyendo la formación de profesionales en la India, Egipto y Palestina/Cisjordania. En relación con el último proyecto hemos incluido explícitamente compañeros israelíes para fomentar el aspecto educativo y el diálogo orientado hacia la paz avalada por la misión de la IAGP. Para el trabajo con catástrofes colectivas y el trauma subyacente contamos ahora con un grupo de expertos especializados en la temática. Este grupo está aún abierto a la incorporación de otros compañeros para mejorar su oferta de servicio. Hemos continuado también nuestras actividades orientadas hacia el intercambio intercultural entre diferentes métodos y generaciones en el marco de nuestras conferencias regionales y las jornadas de verano de Granada (www.granada-academy.org). Finalmente hemos iniciado cooperaciones con las Naciones Unidas (prevención de genocidio, observación de los derechos humanos), con la Asociación Mundial de Psiquiatría y con la Asociación Internacional de Terapia Familiar (IAFT).
Aparte de su contribución activa a los proyectos mencionados anteriormente los beneficios de los socios de la IAGP incluyen sobre todo descuentos para conferencias, publicaciones y la oportunidad de cooperar con otros compañeros en redes profesionales aglutinadas por intereses compartidos: p.ej. métodos grupales, áreas de aplicación, investigación científica etc. Como organización afiliada también tiene la posibilidad de publicar informaciones sobre sus conferencias/congresos/actividades en un calendario que se distribuye entre más de 10.000 profesionales de nuestro campo a nivel internacional.

Este tipo de herramienta es idóneo para fomentar los grupos de interés dedicados a la investigación, al intercambio profesional en proyectos clínicos y sociales y al desarrollo de nuestras secciones

Nuestro próximo congreso internacional en Cartagena / Colombia en julio de 2012 se aproxima.
