Asunto: [IAGP:PSYCHODRAMA] New IAGP Psychodrama Section Discussion List- Action request to join

Dear Psychodramatists, Group psychoterapists, Colleagues and Friends,

IMPORTANT: Below you will find information about the IAGP's new Psychodrama Discussion List, which will start 27th February. It will run in addition to this list, which will remain for psychodrama announcements only. If you are interested in the new list, please sign up as soon as possible, so that we can start our discussions on time.

After 7 years of the IAGP Psychodrama Announcement List with over 475 subscribers, which has been announcing events and other resources in the Psychodrama and Sociodrama Community, the IAGP Board and the Psychodrama Section has decided to create a new internet List: The IAGP PSYCHODRAMA DISCUSSION LIST.

In the world, we have other discussion lists in the Psychodrama Community, but not yet an international/worldwide list. This is why we feel it is necessary to create this space for a more transcultural and crosscultural approach in our field of study and practice.

This list will be moderated by Sue Daniel and Manuela Maciel (previous Chairs of IAGP Psychodrama Section) and with the support of Maurizio Gasseau (Present Chair of IAGP Psychodrama Section) and its aim is to discuss topics related to Psychodrama and Sociodrama. We invite you to participate and make it a dynamic contribution to the development of our theory and methods.

The list is currently open to IAGP members and non-members, but we encourage all subscribers to join/renew their IAGP membership at http://www.iagp.com/membership . As with other IAGP discussion lists, subscribers may send messages to the new list in English or in their own language if they include an English translation (e.g. using Google Translate: http://translate.google.com).

List members can use this forum to discuss topics such as:

a) Psychodrama and Sociodrama in different countries and cultures
b) New developments in work with clinical, educational, organizational and community aspects
c) Exchange of experiences, challenges, difficulties, training needs. Exchange of articles and documents of interest.
d) Sharing information and reports resulting from Workshops, Conferences and Congresses.
e) Problems, conflicts and ethical issues arising in daily practice

To join the IAGP's new psychodrama discussion list, please go to: http://groups.yahoo.com/group/iagp-psychodrama-discuss/

Click on the button to 'join this group' and follow the Yahoogroups instructions to sign up. This may require you to set up a Yahoo ID if you do not already have one.

If you have problems signing up in this way, drop a line to signuphelp@iagp.com and we will try to help or we will sign you up manually.

Please note that the above steps for joining the new list are slightly different from IAGP's usual list signup procedures. They are only intended for use by subscrbers who are currently on the IAGP's Worldwide Psychodrama Announcement List, as we would like to make sure that as many of you as possible are on the new list before discussions start on 27th February. We will be inviting other people to sign up via the IAGP website soon.

Looking forward to seeing you on the new list,

Sue Daniel, Manuela Maciel and Maurizio Gasseau

Hello Sue and Manuela and Maurizio,
It's really nice to have international pals who are stirring the pot in a home-cooking friendly way.
So am I on? What else do I need to do?
What are some things you'd like discussed?
You know me---It won't be hard to prod me to come up with stuff. I'm thinkin' all the time.
Here are some things off the top of my mind:
1. I have on my website an international psychodrama news. That is being superseded in many ways by the FEPTO news by Horatiu Albini, but what about for other continents? I wouldn't mind giving my webpages away to anyone who would like to get involved in networking.
My hope was to get a report on developments in each country or region every year or so, and then maybe every 3 years? Right now I'd be happy to get an update every ten years. Everyone seems so busy, and I don't know if anyone else cares what is going on in another country across the sea.
I think it would be great, though, to promote a sense of an international movement.
2. I see psychotherapy per se as becoming too expensive and person-related, whereas the problems we face are at least 50% collective. Thus, extensions into sociodrama and other cultural, educational, and cross-disciplinary lines seem relevant, and Moreno's work was not intended to be limited to the medical model (i.e., helping people in the sick role who seek help). (Interestingly, Freud never wanted his method to be medicalized either, but American Medicine insisted---Freud never liked America, anyway---and then America became dominant, mainly for being at a greater distance from the 2nd world war.)
So I'm pleased that IAGP has extended its identity to include "and group processes," which implies there's more to group work than therapy.
That's enough for now. Warmly, Adam

Dear Adam and All psychodramatists,

thank you for your contribute to our IAGP Discussion list. I was sure you will be,dear Adam, the first one to open our work in IAGP Worldwide Discussion List.
You are one of the pioneer of Psychodrama and you are very active in our community.
This list has now more of fifty members, and I am sending a personal invite to 477 colleagues ( all the members of IAGP Psychodrama Announcement List) to join, and I think we will be soon more of one hundred, probably next week.
As you wrote I want to thank you to Manuela Maciel and Sue Daniel that share with me the responsibility to moderate this list, to Jorg Burmeister, Heloisa Fleury, Eva Fahlstrom, Dena Baumgatner and Celia Riskin that helped the Psychodrama Section to develop it through the IAGP Board, Leandra Perrotta that help me in the English translation and for her warm support, and FEPTO family, that is a wonderful European and Mediterranean network of psychodramatist, that will meet this year last week of March in Neve Shalom-Educational Arab-Jewish Peace Village next to Jerusalem for the Annual meeting.
One special thank to Yaffa Josephine Sassoon consultant of Information IAGP System that worked very hard for the list with me in New York and last month from England.
It would be great if in every continent will grow a Federation of Psychodrama Training Organization like FEPTO to support each other and exchange training experiences and difficulties.
I agree with you Adam that the problems we face are at least 50% collective and we need to treat and solve them in groups, and it is important to be open to interdisciplinary field and use all Morenians tools in an interdisciplinary way and not to be limited to the medical model.
Soon it will be the VIII Congreso Iberoamericano de Psicodrama, La Havana-Cuba, May 14-18, 2011 and the 4th Regional Mediterranean Congress of the IAGP, in Porto- Portugal,September 7-10, 2011. It will be nice to have some information on this list about these Congresses.

Warm regards
Maurizio

Dear All, I am still hopeful that folks will take just a bit of time to share what's happening in their parts of the world. I envision a report being made every five or ten years about what's happened in the previous period. I think some psychodramatists in various countries care about the progress the field is making all over the world. Is it growing or shrinking?
How is it being integrated with other approaches?
What are some of the more creative developments?
What new books have been published by people in that country, or what books have been translated and are being used there?
What's the membership numbers---within a hundred people, nothing exact---?
How many institutes are active in that country?
What other questions do you have?
If you send photos, have some close-ups of leaders so there's face recognition, and captions so these pictures are combined with names.
Warmly, Adam Blatner
